Get Ready For A Wet Easter Weekend

Short Term Forecast :  We have one more pretty chilly morning here in Baton Rouge.  It is mostly clear with temperatures in the 40s.  Better take that coat again this morning, but you will not need it later.  The area of high pressure is well off to the east of Louisiana, and that means we will have plenty of southerly winds today.  This will pump in the warm air and moisture from the Gulf of Mexico.  We will become partly cloudy with highs in the mid 70s this afternoon. The clouds will stick around tonight and we could have some patchy fog forming.  Temperatures will be mild as they only fall to the mid 50s.  Easter Weekend :  It still looks like we will have some rain and thunderstorms for this weekend.  Saturday will be nice for much of the day with partly to mostly cloudy skies.  Isolated showers will develop during the afternoon/evening hours, but not everyone will see the rain.  It will stay warm and become more humid with highs in the upper 70s.  Saturday Nig

Much Warmer Temperatures Return Today

Short Term Forecast :  We have one more chilly morning to get through today with clear skies and temperatures in the upper 30s.  Better take that jacket with you once again. We will become much warmer this afternoon!  This is thanks to the area of high pressure moving east of Louisiana and the winds will come out of the southeast.  Some high clouds will also stream by making it mostly sunny, but it will still be a beautiful day.  High temperatures will be in the lower 70s. It will not be as cold tonight thanks to the southeasterly winds.  Expect mainly clear skies with low temperatures in the mid 40s.  Friday will become even warmer, but we will have partly cloudy skies overhead.  A stray sprinkle can't be ruled out, but most of you will stay dry.  High temperatures will be in the mid 70s.  Friday Night will be mostly cloudy with lows in the mid 50s. Easter Weekend :  It still looks like we will have some rain this weekend, but it will mainly fall on Easter.

Freeze Warning In Effect Until 8 AM

The NWS has issued a Freeze Warning for the Baton Rouge area and South Mississippi until 8 AM.  Temperatures have fallen to freezing in Baton Rouge and below freezing in areas north and east of the city.  All plants should have been covered or brought inside.  If they we not taken care of, the freezing temperatures will likely kill any vegetation. After 8 AM the temperatures will rise above freezing and the warning will expire.  Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum has all the details on 2une In this morning.

The Warming Trend Begins Today

...Freeze Warning until 8 AM for the Baton Rouge Area... Short Term Forecast :  Brrr!!  It is a very cold start and frosty to the day with clear skies and temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s!  Hopefully you brought in all of your plants, or covered them up.  Bundle up as you head to work and school this morning! We will become warmer this afternoon as the area of high pressure moves to the northeast of Louisiana.  This will shift the winds from the northwest to the east and that will start to bring in the warmer air.  We will remain sunny with high temperatures in the lower to mid 60s. The Unseasonably Cool Weather Continues

Short Term Forecast :  It is a very cold morning across the Capital City with clear skies and temperatures in the 30s.  A light freeze is expected!  I hope that you brought in your plants last night.  Take that jacket with you this morning. An area of high pressure remains over the Southeast U.S. today.  This will keep us sunny and with the northwest winds over us, we will stay cool.  High temperatures will be in the upper 50s. Another freeze is expected tonight for the Baton Rouge area.  We will be clear with calm winds and very good radiational cooling.  Low temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s.  The NWS has issued a Freeze Warning for areas along and north of the I-10/12 corridor from 2 AM to 8 AM Wednesday Morning.  The freeze could last 2 to 6+ hours and that would be long enough to kill any vegetation.  Make sure you bring in your plants or at least cover them tonight!  Bundle up! Freeze Warning Tonight in Baton Rouge

A Freeze Warning is in effect for the Baton Rouge area tonight!  The winds will calm down as an area of high pressure sits over the Deep South.  This will draw in some very cold arctic air right into Baton Rouge.  We will have unseasonably cold air in the upper 20s to lower 30s tonight.  Some vegetation has been planted already and this freeze could kill it.  Therefore, the NWS has issued a Freeze Warning from Midnight to 8 AM Tuesday: Here are the details on the Freeze Warning: Here is what you should do tonight: We could also have freezing temperatures in the Baton Rouge area on Tuesday Night into Wednesday Morning.  Some areas could even see a light freeze on Wednesday Night/Thursday Morning. Much Colder Weather To Start This Week

Short Term Forecast :  We begin this Monday with clear skies, breezy conditions and chilly temperatures in the 30s.  Better bundle up! We will stay cool all day thanks to an area of high pressure building in from the northwest.  This is ushering in breezy north to northwest winds over us all day around 10 to 15 mph.  It will be a gorgeous day with sunny skies, but the high temperatures will only be around 60.  Keep that jacket with you all day! The winds will diminish tonight with clear skies.  This will allow us to get very cold and a light freeze is possible!  Lows will be in the lower 30s around Metro Baton Rouge, but areas north and east of town may get below freezing!  Be sure to cover or bring in your plants tonight!!  Week Ahead :  The area of high pressure will remain over us on Tuesday and Wednesday.  We will stay sunny with highs in the upper 50s on Tuesday and mid 60s on Wednesday.  Lows will be in the lower 30s Tuesday Night with a light freeze possible

Quiet Weather Today, But Storms Return Tomorrow

Short Term Forecast :  Clouds are on the increase this Thursday Morning.  It is also a little chilly with temperatures in the 40s.  Take you coat with you today! The clouds will continue to increase this afternoon as we transition from some nice weather to stormy weather on Friday.  The area of high pressure that was sitting over us yesterday is now moving east of Louisiana.  This will shift the winds from the northeast to the southeast today.  We will not feel a big warm-up from this today, but that will change tomorrow.  Expect a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the lower 70s this afternoon. The clouds will stick around tonight and we could see a shower or two popping up.  It will not be as chilly with lows in the lower to mid 50s. A Mostly Cloudy and Wet First Day of Spring

Happy Spring! Short Term Forecast :  Spring officially arrives at 6:02 AM today.  We will begin the morning with mostly cloudy skies and a few showers or sprinkles as a weak disturbance moves through town.  The radar will look like a lot of rain is headed our way, but we have some pretty dry air over Baton Rouge.  That will limit the amount of rain that makes it to the ground, this is called virga, but plan on some rain for the morning commute.  Temperatures will be in the 50s. Take your umbrella with you! Less Humid and Pleasant Weather Today In Baton Rouge

Short Term Forecast :  We begin this Tuesday Morning with mostly cloudy skies in the wake of a cold front that is now southeast of Baton Rouge.  It is cooler with temperatures in the 50s. The skies will become mostly sunny this afternoon as an area of high pressure builds into the Southeast U.S. behind the cold front.  Winds will be out of the northeast and they will help to make it less humid.  High temperatures will still be warm as they climb into the mid 70s. It will turn colder tonight with mostly cloudy skies.  A few showers are possible too.  Low temperatures will be in the upper 40s.  This would be the return of jacket weather. Week Ahead :  The area of high pressure will stay over the Southeast U.S. on Wednesday.  There will be a disturbance off to the west and south of Louisiana, and this will send us mostly cloudy skies and a few showers.  We will still be warm with highs in the lower 70s.  Wednesday Night will be mostly clear and chilly with lows in th

Warm With Some Showers Today

Short Term Forecast :  We start this Monday Morning off with mostly cloudy skies and a few showers.  Temperatures are in the 60s.  Take your umbrella today since we will have some on and off showers popping up! A weak cold front is forecast to move into Baton Rouge later today.  This will give us a mix of sun and clouds along with isolated showers and a few thunderstorms.  We will be warm and humid ahead of the front with highs in the lower 80s. The cold front will push into the Gulf of Mexico tonight and that will put an end to the rain.  We will be left with mostly cloudy skies and some cooler temperatures.  Lows will fall to the mid 50s. Week Ahead :  An area of high pressure will briefly move over us on Tuesday.  This will make it mostly sunny and a few degrees cooler with highs in the mid 70s.  Tuesday Night will be mostly clear and cool with lows in the lower 50s. Spring-like Weather This Weekend

Short Term Forecast :  We will have some fantastic weather tonight!  Expect clear skies with temperatures falling from the 70s into the 60s. It will be clear and not as cold tonight thanks to the southerly winds over us.  Low temperatures will be in the lower 50s.  Some patchy fog will also be possible. Short Term Forecast :  We have another quiet morning across the Capital City with mostly clear skies as some high clouds stream-by.  It is still chilly with temperatures in the 40s.  Take that jacket again as you head out the door! An area of high pressure remains over Louisiana today and that will keep us sunny to mostly sunny.  A few high clouds will still move-by overhead, but they will not block the sun.  It will be a tad cooler today as a weak disturbance skirts-by just north of Louisiana.  It will help to draw in the slightly cooler air to Baton Rouge this afternoon.  High temperatures will be in the mid 60s. Comet PANSTARRS Can Now Be Seen In Baton Rouge

Starting this week we will be able to see the Comet PANSTARRS.  To see the comet, look to the west right after sunset and it will be just above the horizon.  You will need an unobstructed view of it to see it well since it appears after sunset. NASA Image History :  It was discovered back in June of 2011 and bears the name of the telescope that discovered it: Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System according to NASA.  This sits atop of the Haleakala Volcano in Hawaii. Short Term Forecast :  It is a mostly clear and chilly start to this Tuesday Morning with temperatures in the 40s.  Take that jacket with you! We will have a gorgeous day as high pressure builds into the Southeast U.S.  Expect a few highs clouds to stream over us for the first part of the day, but it will become totally sunny by the afternoon.  We will be a little warmer with high temperatures in the upper 60s. A Cold Front Brings Us Some Rain Today

Short Term Forecast :  We start this Tuesday Morning with mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s.  A cold front will move into and through Baton Rouge later this morning and into the afternoon hours.  We will have mostly cloudy skies with isolated showers today.  Most of the rain will be light, and not all of you will get any rain.  It will be warm and breezy ahead of the front with highs in the upper 60s.
