Sunshine Returns Today With A Hard Freeze Warning Tonight!

...Hard Freeze Warning from 7 PM Tonight Until 9 AM Thursday... Short Term Forecast :  The rain has finally ended across the Baton Rouge area and the skies are now clear.  It is chilly and brisk with temperatures in the 30s.  Bundle up as you head out the door!! . We will finally see the sun this afternoon!  Both areas of low pressure have moved northeast of Louisiana.  Now an area of high pressure will build in from the northwest over us.  This will make it clear, but it will also draw down some very cold temperatures.  I am expecting some breezy conditions today, so plan on it being brisk all day.  High temperatures will only be in the mid 40s this afternoon.  Brrr! Bitter cold temperatures are expected tonight across Southeast Louisiana.  We will be clear and the winds will be very light.  Lows will drop into the mid 20s.  The NWS has issued a Hard Freeze Warning for most of the viewing area along and north of I-10/12.  The freeze is expected to last 3 to 7 hours.  This wi

The Chilly Rain Continues Today

Short Term Forecast :  We have a very soggy and chilly start to the day across the Capital City.  The skies are cloudy with scattered showers all around the viewing area.  Temperatures are in the mid to upper 40s.  Bundle up and take your umbrella with you today! The scattered showers will continue this afternoon as the Gulf Low moves to the northeast and an upper-level low moves over Louisiana from the west.  We could still have some heavy rain at times.  It will be chilly all day with high temperatures in the upper 40s occurring in the morning and slowly falling during the afternoon.  We could pick up an additional 0.25" to 0.50" around town today.  Track the rain with WBRZ's Interactive Radar . A Cold And Very Rainy Start To Thanksgiving Week

Short Term Forecast :  We start this Monday Morning with cloudy skies and a few showers are popping up around Baton Rouge.  Any rain will be light for the commute.  It is chilly with temperatures ranging from the upper 30s to lower 40s.  Be sure to take your umbrella and jacket with you today! An area of low pressure is forming in the Western Gulf of Mexico and it will move toward far Southeast Louisiana.  This will send some scattered showers and a few thunderstorms over South Louisiana this afternoon along with cloudy skies.  We will not warm up much with high temperatures struggling to reach 50°. Much more rain will arrive around the viewing area tonight and it will become heavy at times!  A few thunderstorms will also be possible.  It will be cold with lows in the lower 40s. A Soggy Start To The Weekend With Falling Temperatures

Short Term Forecast :  It is a cloudy, warm, muggy morning with patchy fog.  Temperatures are in the 60s. The clouds will stick around all day as a cold front moves into Louisiana.  We will gradually see scattered showers developing throughout the afternoon hours.  A few thunderstorms will also be possible.  It will be warm and humid with high temperatures in the mid 70s. The cold front will move into and through Baton Rouge overnight/Saturday Morning.  Expect scattered showers to pass over the city, but I'm not expecting any heavy rain.  Low temperatures will fall to around 60. Weekend Forecast :  The cold front will move through the city during Saturday Morning.  There will be a few showers along the front, but I'm expecting more rain behind the front too.  These will just be isolated showers and will last through the afternoon.  High temperatures around 60 will occur in the morning before the front moves through.  Then they will fall through the 50s all afternoon.

Warm and More Humid Today With A Few Showers

Short Term Forecast : We have a much warmer morning with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s under mostly cloudy skies. The clouds will stick around today as southeast winds, on the backside of an area of high pressure, pump in the warm and more humid air from the Gulf of Mexico.  Spotty showers are also possible today, but not all of you will see rain.  High temperatures will be in the upper 70s. A warm and muggy night is on tap with mostly cloudy skies.  A few showers will still be possible too along with some patchy fog.  Low temperatures will be in the mid 60s. Warmer Temperatures Today With Rain Returning By Friday

Short Term Forecast : It is a clear and colder morning across the Baton Rouge area.  Temperatures are in the upper 30s to lower 40s.  Bundle up as you head to work and school! We will turn warmer this afternoon as an area of high pressure starts to move to the east of Louisiana.  This will bring in easterly winds and they will bring in the warmer air.  Expect mostly sunny skies with high temperatures in the lower 70s. It will not be as cold tonight thanks to the easterly winds and some clouds returning to the state.  We will have partly to mostly cloudy skies with lows temperatures in the lower to mid 50s. Short Term Forecast :  We have a mostly clear start to this Tuesday across Southeast Louisiana with a few high clouds overhead.  It is much cooler with temperatures in the upper 40s. More high clouds will stream over us today as a mid-level disturbance moves from Texas across Louisiana.  This will give us partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies at times.  An area of high pressure is also sitting over the Southeast U.S.  This is drawing in northeast winds and that will help to keep it much cooler this afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 60s. Short Term Forecast :  We start this Monday with mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers.  A few thunderstorms are also popping up mainly south of I-10.  This is ahead of a cold front that will move through later this morning.  It is very warm and humid with temperatures in the 70s. The cold front will be along the coast by this afternoon.  The rain will come to an end and the sky will become partly cloudy.  It will not turn immediately cooler behind the front since the colder air is lagging behind it.  However, it will become less humid.  High temperatures will still be in the upper 70s. A Warming Trend Begins Today

Short Term Forecast :  Brrrr!!!  We have a clear and very cold start to this Thursday with temperatures in the lower to mid 30s.  Some areas will get to 32° and patchy frost is expected.  Bundle up again as you head out the door. A warming trend begins today across the Deep South.  The ridge of high pressure that brought us the freezing temperatures is moving to the northeast.  As this happens the winds winds will shift from the northeast to the east and then south.  This will bring in the warmer and more humid air from the Gulf of Mexico.  At the same time, upper-level winds will transport in high clouds over us today.  We will be partly cloudy with high temperatures in the mid 60s. The partly to mostly cloudy skies will stick around tonight as a disturbance, or short wave, moves from the SW to the NE across the Louisiana Coast.  This will spark off a few showers over Southeast Louisiana.  A few could make it into Baton Rouge after midnight, but most of you will stay dry.  Lows

Very Cold Temperatures Are On The Way With A Freeze Possible Tonight

...Freeze Warning From 3 AM to 9 AM Wednesday... A strong trough of low pressure will send a strong cold front into and through Baton Rouge this afternoon.  It will not have any moisture to work with, so all we will see from it will be mostly cloudy skies.  Once it moves through the winds will really start to kick up coming out of the north at 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts.  High temperatures will be in the lower 70s,  they will tumble into the 50s once the front passes through town during the rest of the afternoon. Strong cold air advection will build over Baton Rouge tonight as an area of high pressure moves over us from the north.  This will make it VERY COLD!  We will be clear with low temperatures in the lower 30s in the city.  Areas north and east of downtown will be even colder.  Southern Mississippi may be in the upper 20s, the Felicianas and areas just north of I-12 closer to 30. Short Term Forecast :  We have a pretty quiet start to this Tuesday Morning.  The skies are mostly clear and temperatures are in the 50s.  However, significant changes are coming to our weather today... A strong trough of low pressure will send a strong cold front into and through Baton Rouge this morning.  It will not have any moisture to work with, so all we will see from it will be partly cloudy skies.  Once it moves through the winds will really start to kick up coming out of the north at 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts.  High temperatures will be in the lower 70s and then they will tumble through the late afternoon into tonight. More pleasant weather is on tap this afternoon as an area of high pressure sits to the northeast of Louisiana.  This will provide us with mostly sunny skies as a few high clouds start moving over us from the southwest.  It will likely be the warmest day of the week with high temperatures in the lower 80s. Short Term Forecast :  Brrr!!  We have a very chilly start to this Friday with temperatures in the lower 40s under clear skies.  Be sure to take that warm jacket with you to the bus stop and work! An area of high pressure will sit north of Louisiana today and that will help to keep us cool.  At the same time, the jet stream, or river of winds where commercial airplanes fly, will send some high clouds over Baton Rouge from the west today.  These clouds will limit how warm we will get.  Expect high temperatures to be in the mid 60s.
