The rain will come to an end around 10 AM as the cold front moves east of New Orleans.  Then we will become partly cloudy through early afternoon with clearing by late afternoon.  High temperatures in the mid 70s occurred early this morning ahead of the front and will fall behind the cold front.  We will only rebound back into the upper 60s during the afternoon with the sunshine.   Tonight will be clear and much cooler.  Lows north of the lake will be in the upper  30s  with some patchy frost. Make sure you cover or bring in your plants.  Have a warm place for pets too!  South of the lake will be in the upper 40s.   High pressure will briefly build over us on Thursday and Friday.  We will see plenty of sunshine each day with cool high temperatures in the mid 60s.  Lows will be in the  30s  north with some patchy frost and 40s south of the lake.  Make sure you get out and enjoy the sunshine because changes are coming this weekend. One area of storms has moved east of New Orleans, but get ready for more rain today through tonight.  We will be warm and humid today as southerly winds pump in Gulf Moisture.  This will help to set off scattered showers during the day with mostly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the lower 80s.   Tonight, a stronger cold front will move through with showers and storms ahead and along the front.  Any of these storms could be strong to severe.  SPC has most of the area under a Slight risk, but part of the Northshore to Baton Rouge are under an Enhanced Risk.  The main threats will be damaging winds and a few tornadoes.  The greatest area that will see any severe weather will be over much of Mississippi as the best instability will be located there.  However, we will still more unstable than we were Monday Night, so the threat for severe weather is greater.  Lows tonight will be in the 60s.   The line of storms will move through mid-morning on Wednesday.  Again, some of the storms

Keep a tight grip on the steering wheel while driving as south winds will be strong at 25-35+ mph.* We will have an active start to the new week.  A strong cold front will move toward us from the Plains States today.  Ahead of it, it will be windy, warmer and more humid with mostly cloudy skies and highs around 80 during the afternoon.  As the front moves closer to us, a squall line of thunderstorms will develop and the tail-end of it will move into the New Orleans area during the late-afternoon (4 PM) to evening hours.  Some of the storms ahead and along the line could be strong to severe.   The Storm Prediction Center has parts of North Louisiana and Mississippi in an Enhanced Risk. The Northshore to Baton Rouge is under a Slight Risk, and areas south of the lake are in a Marginal Risk. After a cold start to the day we will start to warm things back up today.  An area of high pressure will be east of Louisiana today and that will bring back the southerly winds.  We will become partly cloudy and milder with highs in the lower 70s.  Tonight will be partly cloudy and not as cold with lows in the lower 50s north and around 60 south of the lake.   More mild temperatures are expected on Wednesday ahead of a cold front.  This front will actually be dissipating as it moves into Southeast Louisiana.  However, it will have enough energy to set off isolated showers and a few thunderstorms starting in the afternoon and lasting into Wednesday Night.  Highs will be in the upper 70s.  Lows will be in the mid 50s north and lower 60s south. Today will be the transition day between Spring temperatures and Winter temperatures this weekend.  We will be warm and more humid ahead of a cold front today with partly cloudy skies and a slight chance for a shower.  Highs will be around 80.   The strong cold front will move through tonight.  It will tap into some Gulf Moisture and that will set off spotty showers late.  The front will move through New Orleans around 1 AM.  Once it passes through, the rain will end and it will become windy.  Temperatures will start to fall as well with lows in the 40s north and 50s south.   We will be sunny, windy and MUCH COOLER on Saturday in the wake of the cold front.  Highs will only be in the lower 60s.  If you are headed to the LSU vs Florida Noon game it will be sunny, windy and cool with kickoff temps. in the 50s. An area of high pressure will sit just east of Louisiana today and Friday.  This will allow southerly winds to return and they will warm us back up.  We will be mostly sunny with highs in the lower  80s  today.  Tonight will be mostly clear with some patchy fog.  Lows will be in the 50s north and 60s south of the lake.  The Saints are headed to Charlotte to take on the Panthers tonight for Thursday Night Football. It will be cool, but could be pretty smoky as the wildfires continue just west of Charlotte. If it is not too smoky, it will smell like a campfire for the entire game. Kickoff temperatures will be in the 60s and it will fall into the 50s by the end of the game. More warm weather is expected on Friday, but it will be a little more humid.  Therefore, we will be partly cloudy and could see a stray shower.  Highs will be in the lower   80s .   A strong cold front will move through Southeast Louisiana on Friday Night into Saturday Morning.  There will be enough moist

Our New Orleans Saints will head to Charlotte, NC on Thursday Night to play the Panthers in a big division game.  There will be one big concern during the game - SMOKE. Large wildfires west of Charlotte are currently burning 10,000+ acres and are continuing to spread.  These fires have made the air quality very bad with all of the smoke.  Winds are forecast to come out of the west on Thursday, and that means all of the smoke will blow right over Charlotte. It will be warm during tailgating before the game with temperatures in the 80s, but it will be hazy with smoke.  More smoke it likely at kickoff with temperatures in the upper 60s, and it will remain smoky after the game with temperatures in the 60s. AQI is currently Code Red or Unhealthy.  If you are going to the game get ready to breathe in some smoky air.  It looks like the cold front on Saturday will at least shift the smoke to the south once it passes through on Saturday with some rain possible.  -Dave Here is my video

The area of high pressure will be east of Louisiana on Thursday and Friday, and this will bring back some southerly winds with warmer temperatures.  Each day will have plenty of sunshine with highs in the lower   80s .  Lows will be in the 50s north and 60s south.  A strong cold front will move into Louisiana on Friday Night and it will move through New Orleans on Saturday Morning.  This front will have isolated shower and storms with it as it moves through.  Then it will bring us MUCH COOLER air all weekend.  Saturday will start out with a few showers, but then it will become clear and windy by the afternoon.  Highs will only be in the mid 60s.  Saturday Night will be windy, clear and MUCH COLDER with lows in the upper  30s  n

You will need your umbrella again today as you head to the polls to vote on this Election Day.  A trough of low pressure and a disturbance are located from Louisiana south into the Gulf of Mexico.  Plus, there is an upper-level low over the Plains States.  These features will continue to set off scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms over the New Orleans area today.  Some of the rain will be heavy again, and we will see more street flooding issues.  High temperatures will only be in the lower  70s .   The rain will taper off to just a few showers with mostly cloudy skies tonight.  Lows will be in the  60s  on both sides of the lake. A cold front will move through on Wednesday, and this will clear out the rain.  We will still be cloudy with highs in the lower  70s .  Wednesday Night will become mostly clear with lows in the  50s  north and  60s  south of the lake.  A weak area of high pressure will build over the Deep South on Thursday and it will stay over us i
