Sunshine Returns Today and Much Warmer Temperatures Arrive Later This Week

Much Cooler and Breezy Today

The cold front has moved through and we will see an end to the rain today.  An upper-level low will move across Tennessee and this will help to keep some clouds over us today.  Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies with much cooler and breezy northwest winds around 15-20 mph.  Highs will only be around 70°!  This will make for some great weather for the New Orleans Air Show in Belle Chasse.  Tonight will become mostly clear and cool to chilly.  Lows north of the lake will be in the upper 40s and south of the lake in the mid 50s.  You will want a jacket on Monday Morning! After a cool/chilly start to the day on Monday, we will have some very comfortable weather.  High pressure will build over us from the west.  We will have plenty of sunshine and milder highs in the upper 70s.  Monday Night will not be as cool with lows in the 50s on both sides of the lake. Plan for some rain and storms if you are tailgating for the LSU Spring Ga

Warm With A Few Storms Again Today

Today's Forecast: We will continue to be warm and humid today with another chance for a few showers and storms this afternoon. Once we start to warm up, the heating of the day will help to set off the storms from late-morning until the evening hours - very similar to what we see in the Summer.  Any storm could produce heavy rain and some street flooding issues.  High temperatures will be in the lower  80s .  Tonight will be partly cloudy, mild and muggy with patchy fog.  Lows will be in the mid  60s .   Thursday and Friday will be just like today - partly cloudy warm and humid with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.  Highs will be in the lower  80s .  Lows will be in the mid  60s  on both sides of the lake.   The weather will change as we head into the weekend.  A cold front will move toward us on Saturday.  We will see spotty showers and storms ahead of it.  Right now, the day will not be a washout, but keep rain in your plans.  Some of the storms later

Plan For More Rain and Thunderstorms Today

Today's weather will be very similar to what we saw on Sunday - plenty of clouds mixed with sun along with scattered showers and thunderstorms.  These storms are being set off by a weak disturbance/wave aloft.  As the wave moves through, it taps into the warm/humid air over us and sets off the storms.  The storms could produce some gusty winds and contain heavy rain.  Highs today will be in the lower  80s .  Tonight will be partly cloudy with patchy fog and a slight chance for a shower.  Lows will be in the  60s .   The wave will move east of us on Tuesday, but it will still be close enough to set off spotty showers and storms with mostly cloudy skies.  Highs will be in the lower  80s .   We start to dry out on Wednesday as an area of high pressure aloft moves over the Deep South.  This will make it partly cloudy with highs in the lower  80s .  The high pressure will sit right over us on Thursday and Friday.  This will allow us to see plenty of sunshine along with some war

A Warm Day With A Slight Chance For Rain

Few Strong Storms Today, Turning Much Cooler On Thursday

There is a threat for strong to severe storms across all of Southeast Louisiana through Noon today.  The environment is very unstable and this means showers and storms will develop as a cold front moves through this afternoon. Some of these storms could be severe with damaging winds, a few tornadoes and large hail.  Fortunately, the risk is low across SE LA.  SPC  has us in a Marginal Risk or level 1 risk.  That does not mean put your guard down, but I'm not expecting many, if any storms.  Stay weather aware.  Our main weather issue today will be gusty winds as the cold front moves through.  Drier air will follow behind the cold front and the winds will be out of the NW at 15-25 mph with higher gusts.  The NWS has issued a Wind Advisory until 7 AM Thursday for the Southshore.  Watch for restrictions on the Cause for your commute home!  The worst of the severe weather is expected across much of Alabama and Georgia where a tornado outbreak is possible!  SPC has parts of thos

Near Record Highs Possible Today, Severe Weather Possible Tonight

We will have some pleasant weather today with plenty of sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures.  Highs will be in the mid  80s .  This will be near the record high of 85° set back in 2001.   The weather will go downhill tonight as our next system moves through.  The old cold front will retreat back to the north as a warm front this evening.  At the same time, an upper-level low will move out of the Rockies toward St. Louis.  As this happens, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop starting around 10 PM and will continue overnight.  Some of the storms along and south of the warm front could be strong to severe!   SPC  has put all of Southeast Louisiana in a Marginal Risk for severe weather, and the Northshore into Southern Mississippi in a Slight Risk.  You will need to stay weather aware tonight into Wednesday Morning!!  Have your weather radios and weather apps on standby mode to alert you to any warnings overnight. Lows will be in the lower  70s .   After the t
